45 percent of Pulchowk-Gondrang road extension completed

CHITWAN, Oct 25: Forty-five percent of the road expansion work of Pulchowk-Gondrang section of Bharatpur has been completed.

A contract agreement was signed with Indo-Sagun-Rautaha JV Butwal on October 12, 2020 for road expansion. According to the agreement, the company has to complete the road expansion work by February 22, 2023.

The Pulchowk-Gondrang road, which will be expanded at a cost of Rs 1.13 billion, will have six lanes. There will be 11.5-11.5 meters black topped on the right and left sides of the road, while there will be a median of three to four meters in the middle of the road, a drain on the side of the main road and a service lane of 5.5 meters to six meters beyond that.

Similarly, there will be a three to four meter footpath, while the design of the median and service lane in the middle of the road will be different in three sections. The road division office has said that there will be different designs from Pulchowk to Lionschowk, from Lionschowk to Campus Gate and from Campus Gate to Gondrang.

According to the office, the expressway between Expressway 9 from Gondrang to Chaubiskothi is being worked on. Base and subbase work is currently underway on the expressway. Engineer Chandeshwar Shah, Information Officer for the Division Road Office, Bharatpur, said that after the completion of the said work, the first level of work will begin.

Likewise, he said that the first level of work from Gondrang to Central Bus Terminal has been completed. In that section, the second and third levels and sewer work are yet to be done. In a few days, the work of the first level will also start from the bus park to Chaubiskothi. On the side road, 9 service lanes from Gondrang to Chaubiskothi, the first level of work has been completed.

Shah also mentioned that the work could not be accelerated due to the local level elections and various festivals. In addition, he said that the work may be affected by the House of Representatives and province assemblies elections to be held on November 20.

Although there are only four months remaining of the contract date, the construction company has claimed to complete the work within the specified date.
