KATHMANDU, July5: The meeting of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) is the first one to bear the brunt after the Oli-led government decided to annul political appointments made by the then caretaker Deuba government on August 30, 2017.

A meeting of the NRA Advisory Council had been called at Baluwatar on Thursday morning.  However, the meeting could not take place after the appointment of Chief Executive Officer Yubaraj Bhusal was annulled.

As a result of it the foods prepared for nearly 150 people invited to the meeting could not be utilized. After the meeting was canceled, some participants did not reach Baluwatar while those already reached returned home.

We returned home expressing gratitude: CEO Bhusal

NRA CEO Bhusal had reached Baluwatar at 8 am to maker preparations for the pre-scheduled meeting of NRA Advisory Council at Baluwatar.

Bhusal reached Baluwatar a bit earlier for the preparation of the meeting due to the Prime Minister’s busy schedule through Wednesday.

Bhusal, who took charge in the capacity as the CEO on October 23, knew about his termination from the job only upon reaching Baluwatar.

How to include in the meeting Bhusal who has already been removed from the job? After a while, Rajesh Bajracharya, personal aide of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, turned up and said, “Sir, you have been in the annulment decision list.”

Bhusal eased the atmosphere in a gentlemanly way. He informed that he also features in the annulment decision list. “It’s not possible to appoint and conduct a meeting immediately. Let’s cancel the meeting,” he said.

“The meeting called for 10 am at my own initiation was canceled at the eleventh hour. We informed the participants accordingly,” he added.

Bhusal was unaware of his termination while attending the meeting. He was alerted while listening to the radio. PM, his team, and CEO of NEA were also uninformed of the annulment decision during the morning meet.

Confirming removal from his job after reaching Baluwatar, Bhusal intended to express his gratitude to PM in a personal meeting.  After waiting for a half an hour, he met with PM and expressed his gratitude for allowing him to work for more than five months as NRA CEO. In the meeting, PM Oli said, "At dawn only, I got information about your annulment from the job." Oli thanked me for accepting the government decision with simplicity and ease, Bhusal said.

NRA’s Advisory Council works on providing consultation and advice to the Board of Directors which comprises over 100 members.

The members include former Prime Ministers, secretaries, executive council members and lawmakers from quake affected 14 districts. Today's meeting was supposed to induct lawmakers from 14 districts (both central and provincial).
