KATHMANDU, Aug 24: CPN (Maoist Center) leader Haribol Gajurel has claimed that the local elections would be held on the slated time.

Speaking at a program organized by the Reporters' Club Nepal here today, Gajurel said, "The new constitution has mandatory provision of holding election of three bodies within January 2018. So the election should be held on time for the constitution implementation."

Similarly, Nepali Congress leader NP Saud blamed that the number of local bodies recommended by the Restructuring Commission was not practical. The Commission has recommended 565 numbers of local bodies.

He further said that his party was in line that the number of local bodies should be determined on the basis of existing number of 927 ilaka or local units.

CPN (UML) Secretary Bhim Acharya blamed the incumbent government of hatching conspiracy not to hold election on time.

He said that attempts were underway to create political and constitutional vacuum in the country without holding the election.

Madhesi Morcha leader Manish Suman said that the election could not be held without amending the new constitution.

Demanding immediate halt of works of the Commission, Suman warned not to let the election to be held without completing the restructuring process. RSS
