Parliamentary delegation off to Kanchanpur

KATHMANDU, Aug 24: A team of the Women, Children, Senior Citizen and Social Welfare Committee under the Legislature-Parliament let for Kanchanpur on Wednesday for an onsite study and monitoring of the Kanchanpur incident. 

The team under the leadership of Committee Chairperson Ranju Kumari Jha comprising lawmakers—Anandi Panta, Kalashadevu Mahara, Mukta Kumari Yadav, Durga Khanal and Rukmini Chaudhary headed towards the incident site to find the truth behind the murder of Ram Dulari Rana in Kanchanpur. 

Chairperson Jha said that the Committee decided to go for an onsite visit after local's complaint over the local police administration of not effectively implementing the directive issued to bring the truth related to the case out. 

Rana, who was allegedly said to be in a love affair with neighbor Prakash Malla, went missing from May 31 from her house and was found dead on June 4. Padam Rana, father-in-law of Ram Dulari, had filed petition against six members of Malla family. 

Stating that the police administration did not take the incident seriously and action was not taken against the guilty, the locals have been organizing different protest programs. RSS
