KATHMANDU, June 11: China has agreed to construct two bridges along Nepal-China border.

A cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Sunday decided to endorsed the proposal forwarded by the Chinese government to construct a Nepal-China friendship bridge at Tatopani border point and another bridge connecting Rasuwagadi-Geelong port of Kerung (China) under its financial and technical support, informed Information Minister Gokul Baskota.

The friendship bridge that connected China with Nepal at Tatopani was damaged by the 2015 earthquakes. Construction of the bridges are likely to boost road connectivity between the two neighbors.

Similarly, the cabinet also decided to allow Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation to seek further cooperation on energy sector between Nepal and China. Earlier, China's National Energy of Administration had proposed to the ministry to seek cooperation on energy sector.

Minister Baskota said the ministry has been allowed to seek cooperation in line with the proposal floated by the Chinese body.
