KATHMANDU, Aug 23: The Communist Party of China (CPC) has shown concerns over political stability in Nepal during the five-day official China visit by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Krishna Bahadur Mahara.

In an interview with the Editor-in-Chief of Nagarik Daily, Gunaraj Luintel, DPM Mahara after his China visit, said that China doesn't care which party leads the government in Nepal.  

DPM Mahara further said that China is hopeful that Nepal will be stable after holding local, provincial and federal elections as it promulgated its constitution just last year and is still going through a political transition.

Addressing the concerns shown by CPC about the political stability in Nepal, Mahara said to have informed it about the differences between the Chinese political system and the Nepali political system.

Clarifying to CPC, Mahara said, “As Nepal has adopted a multiparty democratic political system, it is common to have differences among the political parties and change in government.”

When asked whether China has the same foreign policy for Nepal after the change in government, Mahara said the government does not change for 10 years in China and China is aware that Nepal has recently promulgated its constitution. It's not that China favors the government led by any particular party in Nepal, Mahara said.

Mahara also said that the Nepal government has to learn a lot from China's development.
