RAUTAHAT, June 6: Dismissing rumors about the change in the ruling coalition in Province 2, Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut claimed that no political force can challenge his government until it completes its full five-year term.

Raut claimed that the coalition between the two Madhes-based political parties will not break until the next five years. He made such remarks after Nepal Communist Party (NCP) withdrew its support to Raut's government in the province.

Despite NCP withdrawing its support, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) government in Province 2 still enjoys majority with the backing of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN).

Speaking at a press meet in Gaur, the district headquarters of Rautahat, on Tuesday, Raut claimed that his party's decision to join the central government is aimed at amending the constitution in line with the demand of the Madhes-based political parties.

“Our party decided to join the government as it would help the government to garner two-thirds majority in the parliament for amending the constitution,” Raut claimed. He was of the view that coalition with NCP in the central government and RJPN in province were for the broader interest of Madhes.

Talking about the expenses made during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CM Raut criticized the central government for not assisting the provincial government financially.

“The central government had invited the special guest but did not allocate budget for the preparation of the state visit,” he said.

CM Raut said that the provincial government is committed to developing the province and to fulfill the aspirations and needs of the public.
