RAUTAHAT, May 27: Nepal Police has nabbed three Indian security personnel and an Indian citizen for illegally entering Nepal to arrest a Nepali entrepreneur.  They were detained while returning to India with the arrested person from Gaur’s border point in Rautahat district on Saturday. Police also impounded a jeep used by the Indian police.

According to police, the vehicle used by the Indian police had entered Nepal without permission. In a scene resembling broad daylight kidnapping, they reportedly forced the entrepreneur inside their vehicle and attempted to cross the border. 

Police deployed at the Gaur border stopped the vehicle during regular checking and discovered a Nepali entrepreneur inside the van, following which they started interrogation.

During the interrogation, it was learnt that the Indian security personnel had not informed their Nepali counterpart regarding the operation, leading to their arrest. The arrested Indian personnel are sub-inspector Sujit Kumar and head constables Mithlesh Mishra and Achebar Khan, according to District Police Office (DPO), Rautahat.

The entrepreneur Mahesh Prasad Yadav of Kalaiya Municipality-17 of Bara district operates a garment factory in Kathmandu. One of his employees, Ohid Mansuri of Sitamadi, Bihar, had allegedly taken Rs 400,000 loan from the company and had gone home. However, he did not turn up for work, let alone repaying the money. 

It was revealed during police interrogation that Yadav had been pressuring Mansuri to repay the money and return to work. After months, Mansuri’s son Sabin called Yadav to Gaur to receive the money. As soon as Yadav reached the rendezvous, Sabin made a call and immediately three Indian police personnel arrived in the scene in their jeep, arrested Yadav and tried to take him across the border.

Luckily, the vehicle was checked at the border point and the victim was able to alert Nepali Police. Upon receiving information about the incident, a team of police led by Inspector Manoj Yadav from Rautahat reached the customs office and took control of the four Indians. 

“We are currently investing the case,” informed Superintendent of Police (SP) Rabindra KC, who is also the chief of the DPO.

 Meanwhile, Rautahat’s Chief District Officer Govind Rijal confirmed that the Indian vehicle used by Indian police personnel did not get permission to enter Nepal. “While investigating from our side, we are also contacting high level police officials of Bihar regarding the situation,” he said.
