Transport entrepreneurs accuse of intending to damage transport business

KATHMANDU, April 18: Transport Entrepreneurs have accused the government of intending to damage their business. 

In a press meet organised by National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs here today, Federation president Yogendranath Karmacharya accused the government of unnecessarily controlling the transport business by bringing the transport working procedures directive without consulting with transport entrepreneurs.

"The government aims to ruin the transport business that has investment of around Rs 1,000 billion," he said. 

Karmacharya went on to say that accusations that transport employees avoid tax, take bribe while giving route permit and have imposed syndicate in business were ridiculous. 

Federation general secretary Saroj Sitaula argued that the introduction of new provision of company registration in transport sector was meant for ruining the domestic capital and promoting dominance of big capitalists. 

The Federation has announced programmes of protest in against the government. Submission of memorandum to the Prime Minister, ministers, provinces' chief ministers, corner meets in provinces, picketing of offices of transport and parking vehicles in garages are the parts of programmes of protest.
