SYANGJA, April 17: The chairperson of Fedikhola Rural Municipality of Syangja has admitted his son and daughter to a community school in his bid to support the student enrollment campaign launched by the government.

Ghanshyam Subedi, chairperson of the rural municipality, admitted his daughter Swechha to Grade 4 and son Sayal to Grade 1 of Siddhartha Secondary School (SSS) on Sunday. Earlier, both of them were studying at Little Flower Boarding School of Fedikhola. After admitting his children to the community school, the rural municipality chief expedited a door-to-door campaign along with other representatives to promote the enrollment campaign.

Teachers, the school management committee, parents, various organizations and local representatives will be involved in this campaign till April 28. This campaign is being conducted to make sure that no child gets deprived of his/her right to education. Those involved in the campaign will collect details of children by making door-to-door visits.

The rural municipality chief has urged the locals to support the campaign by admitting their children to school as soon as possible. Chairperson Subedi claims that this campaign will prove to be a milestone in uplifting the educational standard of the community schools. "I am trying to change the fact that politics is just about making fake promises," said Subedi. According to him, uplifting the educational standard of community schools will be his first priority.

According to Manoj Kumar Sharma, principal of SSS, the campaign run by the rural municipality chief is very positive especially when the performance of the community schools is extremely disappointing. "The government has not been able to receive the fruits of its investment in the community schools," said Sharma, adding, "I hope this campaign will help the government meet its target."

Chairperson Subedi has urged all the social figures of the local unit to admit their children to community schools.

The government has launched enrollment campaign for children of school going age for the current academic year. It has also urged all the representatives and leaders for co-operation to this campaign. Children above five years of age must be enrolled in school.
