KATHMANDU, May 1: Nepal Police has deployed additional 4,887 police personnel with 220 vehicles in various districts of province 3, 4 and 6 to support the existing police forces there for the security of the first phase of local-level elections on May 14.
According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, the police personnel at the headquarters, Metropolitan Police Office, Regional Police Offices in Biratnagar and Dipayal and other technical units are sent to the districts, where the elections are scheduled in the first phase.

The election programs would be intense from Monday as candidates would officially register their candidacies on Monday.
The headquarters said that the additional police personnel are deployed as per the policy of deploying 22,615 Nepal Police personnel and 22, 699 temporary police in the three provinces during the elections.
