3rd National Social Business Challenge awaits its Grand Finale

The grand finale of 3rd National Social Business Challenge 2018, organized by Yunus Social Business Center Nepal, will be held on Sunday at Hotel Yak & Yeti. The center has so far nurtured 43 ventures which employees 700 youths throughout the country.

National Social Business Challenge aims to develop basic insights and understanding on establishing social enterprises to minimize socio-economic inequality and achieve sustainable development goals. The thematic area for the event includes ICT, Sustainable Tourism, Agriculture, Renewable Energy and Environment, Education, Gender Equality, Health, and Water and Sanitation.

The center conducted boot camps on entrepreneurship across Nepal including Biratnagar, Birgunj, Dhangadi, Nepalgunj, Dailekh, Janakpur, Pokhara, Kohalpur, and Chitwan reaching a total of 406 youths. It received applications from 55 teams, out of which 22 teams, have been selected for the 2nd round. The final event will be judged by a panel of esteemed judges and the teams will be competing for a cash prize of NPR. 3.5 Lakhs in various categories.

All the finalists along with the winning team will get an opportunity to pitch their ideas among Nepal’s largest social venture capitalists for seed funding, and an eight-week mentorship. Various organizations including Daraz, King’s College, Nobel College, Himalayan Climate Initiative, Rural Access Program- Connect, Nepal Communitere, Travellers’ Map, Clock B Innovation, SEA Centre, Rural Development Initiative, Thrive Nepal, R & D Innovation, and OYORIASIA have come together to collaborate for this challenge to promote social entrepreneurship.
