Transactions worth Rs 50 million  recorded in five-day expo

KATHMANDU, March 27: The 3rd International Women Entrepreneur's Expo 2018 concluded on Monday, recording transactions worth around Rs 50 million, according to the organizers.

The expo was organized by Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) with the objective of promoting women entrepreneurship.

According to FWEAN President Rita Singh, transaction amount recorded at the expo, which was organized with the theme 'Uddhyami Banau Desh lai Saghaun, Hatera Hoina Datera Lagau', was higher than their expectations.

“The expo was immense success as it met all the targets. It provided platform for women entrepreneurs to showcase their entrepreneurship, art and skills,” Singh said, adding, “At a very nominal cost, Nepali women entrepreneurs got opportunity to participate in an international standard expo. All the exhibitors are satisfied.”

The expo showcase handicraft items, apparels made from natural fiber, Dhaka and woven products along with crafts made of handmade paper and wood, edibles, jewelry and decors.

FWEAN General Secretary, Darshana Shrestha, said that the expo attracted more than 40,000 visitors. During the expo, entrepreneurs also had the opportunity to establish B2B relations with other entrepreneurial ventures of countries, according to Shrestha. “I now feel that five days were inadequate. The expo should have continued at least for a week,” she said. “Although the venue was new this year, we saw no difference in participation of visitors.”

According to Shrestha, handicrafts, and Dhaka and allo products along with honey and pickle were the most-demanded products at the expo.
