Emphasis on consolidating unity: UML standing committee

KATHMANDU, Aug 15: The CPN-UML Standing Committee meeting today has emphasized on the need to strengthen unity within the party.

Matters relating to the performance of the government led by the party, political coalition led by the party, the present ruling coalition among others were discussed at the meeting.

Party leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal, Yubaraj Gyawali, Bhim Rawal, Pradip Gyawali and Surendra Pandey spoke at the meeting chaired by the party Chair KP Sharma Oli.

The standing committee today also expressed shock over the news of the death of a large number of passengers in the bus accident that took place at Khaharekhola in Birta Deurali-7 of Kavre.

Paying tributes to those who died in the unfortunate incident, the party wished for speedy recovery of the injured.

The meeting also decided to draw the attention of the government towards checking uncontrolled passenger-pressure in public vehicles, the state of vehicles and the drivers and the condition of roads during monsoon, says a statement issued by the party secretary Yogesh Bhattarai.

The standing committee meeting that began on Sunday will continue tomorrow as well. RSS
