Speaking at a press conference, Shreeram Giri, coordinator of the festival, informed that the event will be organized from Fishtail Gate to Dihikopatan and will have 150 stalls. [break]
During the festival, different restaurants will sell their signature food items through makeshift roadside stalls and the organizers said this would help the quality of foods that are provided by the restaurants in Pokhara win identity as well as new customers.
The festival is organized every year during the same period with an objective to preserve art, culture and traditions of Pokhara and the neighboring areas and attract domestic as well as international tourists. “The festival will help promote domestic as well as international tourism during the off-season business when activities such as mountaineering, trekking, rafting are not conducted,” said Balram Pahari, president of Reban, Pokhara.
During the festival, cultural programs will also be organized featuring dances of different ethnic groups such as Gurung, Newars, Tamang, Magar and Tharu, among others. Likewise, different artists will present Nepali folk and dohori songs.
According to Reban, different activities such as tourist race, boat race, waiter race and other amusing activities will be organised to entertain the tourists. Besides, different handicrafts, homemade items and readymade garments will be showcased during the festival.
