Govt of India, UNDP partners to reconstruct 50,000 homes

The Government of India will provide US$ 16.2 million grant to the two UN agencies (US$ 8.79 million to UNDP and US$ 7.41 million to UNOPS) to support safer reconstruction of 50,000 houses in Gorkha and Nuwakot, two of the districts hit hardest by the 2015 earthquake.

Nepal bans March 10 Tibetan uprising day events

Nepal has turned down permission to commemorate the Tibetan uprising day this year as well. Tibetan refugees have been subjected to clampdown by Nepalese police over the years on March 10, the day which marks the uprising of the Tibetan people in Tibet in 1959 against the colonial Chinese rule.

Morang, Sunsari border to shut for 48 hours

The Nepal-India border check points in Morang and Sunsari districts will be closed for 48 hours beginning 6 pm today in view of March 11 Lok Sabha by-elections in Atariya of Bihar, India. 

Trump to meet with North Korea's Kim Jong Un

President Donald Trump agreed to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jung Un by the end of May to negotiate an end to Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program. No sitting American president has ever met with a North Korea leader in 70 years of animosity between the two countries.
