Yeti Himalayan President Karma Tsering Sherpa and Clean Sports Club President Crack Kwak signed the MoU to play two friendly matches in Nepal and raise funds.[break] The friendly matches -- one to be held in Kathmandu and the other outside the valley, will be played in the first quarter of 2012.
President Kwak claimed that the players, who will play friendly match with the Yeti Himalayan, are mostly retired players of Korean League and the Korean national team.
Yeti Himalayan President Sherpa said they will finalize the venues and dates of the friendly matches after consulting All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) since Nepal is preparing for the upcoming AFC Challenge Cup.
Sherpa added that the proceeds from the matches will be spent for the welfare of underprevilged children. “We are planning to start academy where the underprivileged kids can acquire education or pursue sports career,” said Sherpa.
Meanwhile, Clean Sports Club agreed to send two of its players for the Yeti Himalayan for the upcoming National League. Yeti Himalayan President Sherpa said that the Korean players being enrolled in the club will arrive Kathmandu within a week.
Trekking guide Tendy Sherpa, who has been living in Korea, recommended Yeti Himalayan to the Clean Sports Club for the partnership.
Tusal holds Sano Gaucharan
Both matches played on Sunday in the ongoing Martyr´s Memorial Red Bull B Division league ended in draw. In the matches played at the Police Training Centre, Tusal Club held Sano Gaucharan Youth Club at 2-2 draw.
Sourya Thapa gave Sano Gaucharan a lead and Milan Magrati doubled the lead. Rakesh Lama cut the lead while Shyam Babu leveled the score for Tusal. Meanwhile, Boys Sports Club and Kumari Club settled in goalless draw. Gyan Bhairav Club will face Madhyapur Youth Association on Monday while Chyasal Youth Club will meet Kathmandu Club.
Kathmandu on Sunday to participate in the Vizag Grand Masters Open international Chess Tournament to be held in Andhra Pradesh, India from November 23 to December 1. Nepal Chess Association President Rajesh Hari Joshi bade farewell to the team amidst a program in the capital on Sunday.
The team includes former Nepal champion Nabin Tandukar, Mohan Singh Pradhan, Bipin Amatya, Bharat Dhital and FIDE arbiter Maheshower lal Dangol. Altogether 400 players from 17 nations will participate in the tournament.
Jiten Memorial Basketball
Niten Memorial School (NIMS) said that the Third Jiten Thakuri Memorial Inter School Basketball Tournament will start from Tuesday.
NIMS organized a press conference on Sunday and informed that altogether 20 teams are participating in the tournament.
There are 12 teams in boys´ section while eight teams in girls´ category.The tournament will be played in the league cum knockout format. Daffodil is the defending champion in boys´category and the host NIMS is the defending champion of girls´ section.
Tamrakar duo wins Yala Cup
Defending champions Shrawan Tamrakar and Srijan Tamrakar lifted the trophy of Yala Cup Badminton Tournament on Sunday.
The Tamrakar duo defeated Birendra Shrestha and Raju Bajracharya´s pair 21-11, 19-21, 21-14 in the final. With the win, the Tamrakar pair bagged a purse of Rs 20,000 while the runners-up -- Shrestha and Bajracharya -- received Rs 10,000.
The semifinalist pairs of Sanjay Maharjan and Sanu Babu Maharjan as well as Kishor Byanjankar and Birendra Shrestha were jointly awarded the third position.
Wins for Barula, Hariyali
Barula and Hariyali Basketball Club won their respective matches on Sunday in the Inter-club Basketball Tournament in Dharan.
In the matches played at the Yalambar Court, Barula beat Yalambar Basketball Club 48-39.
Yalambar lost its rhythm despite taking the first quarter 12-6, and Barula bounced back in the remaining quarters.
Barula took the remaining quarters 18-6, 12-10, 12-11. Bibek Rai scored 17 points for the winning team. In another match, Hariyali defeated Jute Bikash Basketball Club 63-50.
Hariyali was in a comfortable position after taking the first two quarters 19-6, 22-14 though Jute Bikash took the remaining two 19-12, 11-10. Mashal Rai was the highest scorer for the winning team with 33 points.
