KATHMANDU, Feb 26: The Supreme Court on Sunday summoned Kantipur Publications officials in relation to a contempt of court case.

Making public its show cause notice on Sunday, the apex court asked Kantipur Publications Managing Director Kailash Sirohiya, Director Swastika Sirohiya, Editor-in-Chief Sudhir Sharma and reporter Krishna Gyawali to attend the apex court personally for recording their statement along with the reason or ground based on which they published news that have courted controversy.

The notice issued by a single bench of Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli states that various news reports, editorials and other reading materials published in relation to the chief justice were biased and seem to have been reported on the basis of false details.

The bench also directed Nepal Press Council to monitor whether Kantipur has breached the code of conduct for journalists and decide whether or not to suspend the government facilities and privileges given to Kantipur daily.
