Sadhus in Pashupatinath (Photo feature)

KATHMANDU, Feb 12: As Hindus are marking Maha Shivaratri on Tuesday, devotees across the country and from the different part of the world are gathering in Kathmandu to celebrate the holy festival at Pashupatinath.

According to the Pashupatinath Area Development Trust (PADT), preparations are at its final stage at Pashupatinath for the festival to facilitate the hundreds and thousands of devotees to enter the temple and worship Lord Shiva within a short time.

To mark Maha Shivaratri, hundreds of sadhus and naga babas have already gathered from all across the subcontinent to lounge beside their dhuni (bonfire) in the extensive Pashupatinath complex. They represent various sects and play a major role in the spiritual and social life of South Asia.
