MANANG, May 29: A massive flood triggered by incessant rainfall for the past few days has inundated human settlements in Ghatte Khola of Chame Rural Municipality-3 in Manang district.
Chame Rural Municipality in the district witnessed downpour continuously for 52 hours. As many as 36 houses in Naya Bazar are under the risk of being swept away by the flood.
Continuous rainfall in most of the lower region of the district due to the impact of Yaas cyclone developed at Bay of Bengal in India has increased the risk of flood, according to the District Administration Office in Manang.
“People in the risk zone have been evacuated to safer places,” said Bishnu Lamichhane, the Chief District Officer of Manang.
“The river has been swollen. Security persons including those belonging to Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal Police and Nepal Army have been mobilized in the rescue operations,” he added.
