Journalist imposter nabbed for stealing

KATHMANDU, Feb 8: Police has arrested a man who stole people's belongings in the guise of a journalist. 

A team from the Metropolitan Crime Division nabbed 52-year-old Hari Sharan KC alias Ashok KC of Godavari, Lalitpur in this connection. Police said KC used to steal things entering seminar and meeting venues as a journalist. He was arrested along with the goods he had stolen from Lalitpur on Tuesday. 

According to police, on February 3 KC entered the meeting hall of the local Kantipath-based Hotel Yellow Pagoda where the bankers were having a training session by producing a fake press card with 'Fireside Daily' written on it, and stole money and mobiles from the ladies' bag belonging to three women as well as cash Rs 32,500. 

Police confiscated one mobile phone, two watches, one ladies' bag, press card with 'Fireside Daily' printed on it, a diary mentioning the programme name and two mobile SIM cards. 

Based on the preliminary investigation by police, KC also used to steal the bags and even laptops entering various programme venues. He has been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range for necessary action.(RSS)
