Driver trapped, helper missing after tanker plunges into Trishuli river

CHITWAN, Feb 8: The driver of a milk tanker has got trapped and his helper is missing after the tanker plunged into the Trishuli river near Gaighat on the Narayangadh-Muglin road section early morning today. 

The District Police Office Chitwan said that the tanker with registration plate Ba 4 Kha 6953 was going towards Pokhara when it fell into the river. It had come from Kohalpur. The tanker fell after it was hit by a container (Na 7 Kha 4314) heading towards Narayangadh from Kathmandu, police added. 

Chief of the Chitwan District Police Office, Superintendent Deepak Thapa said only a section of the tanker is above the water and although the driver can be seen trapped in the vehicle his helper is not seen. 

He said an Armed Police Force rescue team has left for the accident site from Kurintar. Another police team with a crane has also left for the accident site from Bharatpur. Police got information about the accident only at 6:13 am and it is not known when exactly the accident took place. The name and address of the driver and the helper, who police presume are dead, were also not known. RSS
