ROLPA, Feb 7: Inspired by the idea of creating a clean and eco-friendly village, almost all the houses of ward no 3 of Sukidaha Rural Municipality of Rolpa have been painted green. According to ward chief Kamal Raj Oli, around 90% of the total 850 households of the ward have turned green.

The ward office had introduced this plan before Dashain and it has finally taken shape. As urged by the office, locals painted their houses on their own expenses.

"Green is the symbol of purity and cleanliness. That is why we decided to make our village green," said ward chief Oli. It became easier for this ward to make its plan work as the decision was greatly welcomed by the locals.

In a village full of green houses, there are some houses which have not been painted due to religious reasons. Some of them are mourning the death of their family members or relatives due to which they have not been able to paint their houses. "But these houses will also turn green within the next three months," said Oli.
