Constitutional Council meet inconclusive

KATHMANDU, April 27: Meeting of the Constitutional Council, which was supposed to name next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court  ended inconclusively after representative of Foreign Affairs Minister  Upendra Yadav did not attend the meeting.


Yadav has assigned his party´s Co-chair and Agriculture Minister JP Gupta to represent him in the council but Gupta did not attend the meeting.

"We discussed the possible names for the top post but did not take any decision in the absence of a member," said parliament Speaker Subas Nembang , a member in the committee.


The committee comprises prime minister, main opposition leader, speaker, chief justice and three ministers picked by the prime minister. Law Minister also takes part as a member when the committee meets to name the chief justice.
