KATHMANDU, Jan 25: The government is making preparations to resume supplies of stones and aggregates to India. According to sources, the government is mulling to do so following the pressure from the smugglers.
"The Ministry of Supplies has made a proposal for supplying stones and aggregate. Possibly this proposal will be submitted in the upcoming cabinet meeting”, the source said.
The Government had put a ban on the supplies of stones and aggregates after noticing an adverse impact on the Chure region giving rise to illegal and unnatural supplies of constrution materials toward India in 2014.
Experts say that supplying stones and concretes will incur damage on the Chure region and adversely affect the development of physical infrastructure.
The Ministry of Environment had put a ban on supplying construction materials after a technical team related to crusher plant management and stone mining submitted a report.
According to high level government officials, the government is making efforts to make flexible criteria to resume supplies of stones to India.
