CHITWAN, Jan 25: Nine hundred and thirty out of 2,236 candidates who contested the local level elections in Chitwan district have still not submitted the details of their election expenses, nine months into the elections. 

Chief of the District Election Office, Hari Dhakal, said 22 candidates from Icchyakamana rural municipality, 81 from Kalika Municipality, 152 from Khairahani Municipality, 281 from Bharatpur Metropolitan City, 143 from Madi Municipality, 149 from Ratnanagar Municipality and 102 candidates from Rapti Municipality have not submitted their election expenditure details to the District Election Office. 

Similarly, 24 candidates contesting the House of Representatives and Province Assembly elections from the district have yet to submit the details of their election expenses. Dhakal said 12 candidates who contested the House of Representatives elections and the same number contesting the Province Assembly election have not submitted the election expenditure details. 

Altogether 95 people had registered their candidacies for the twin elections from Chitwan district. A majority of those not submitting the election expenses details are people who contested the election as independent candidates. 

The District Election Office has urged all the candidates who are yet to submit their election expense details to do so at the earliest. Dhakal said the Office will black list those candidates not abiding by its notice.
