PARBAT, Aug 8: About half a dozen types of surgeries are being offered for the first time at District Hospital, Parbat.

With this, locals are no longer under the compulsion to travel to Pokhara and other cities to perform even minor surgeries.

“Now about half a dozen types surgeries can be performed in the district itself,” said Dr Fanindra Baral, chief medical superintendent of the district hospital.

“We can also perform surgery for pregnancy at the hospital now,” he added.

Surgery was performed successfully on Smiriti Gurung of Kushma-7.

After hours of labor pain, her surgery was performed at the district hospital with permission from her family.

“This is the first case of surgery performed at the hospital.

Both the mother and her baby are safe. It has shown that patients no longer need to travel to Pokhara for surgeries,” added Dr Baral.

Along with delivery, the hospital also performs surgery for Hernia, Hydrocele, Appendix, among few other types of surgery, informed Dr Baral.
