Daughters suffocated to death, parents under treatment

ITAHARI, Jan 10: Two girls died from asphyxiation while an aged woman was burnt to death in Sunsari. Both incidents occurred Tuesday. 

According to police, Alam Miya, his spouse and two small daughters were rescued Monday morning in an unconscious condition due to suffocation by smoke released from firewood and husk lit for keeping the room warm from their rented room at Itahari Sub Metropolis-6. They all were taken to the Biratnagar Hospital, but both girls, seven-year-old Aliya Khatun and her two-year-old sister, breathed their last during treatment on Tuesday night itself. 

Their father Alam, 35, and mother Fosila Khatun, 28, are being treated, according to the Area Police Office, Itahari. 

Likewise, 70-year-old Daitini Devi Chaudhary of Itahari-19, who sustained burn injuries after the saree she had been wearing caught fire while she was sitting near a bonfire to avoid cold on Tuesday, died in course of treatment at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan. The incident happened at around 6:00 pm, police confirmed. RSS
