KATHMANDU, Aug 26: A total of 403 people, including 341 foreign nationals and 62 Nepalis, have been reported missing following the devastating flash flood that struck Rasuwa district on Wednesday, according to data released by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).
The NTB said the missing individuals comprise tourists, travelers and other persons who were in the affected area when the flood swept through parts of northern Rasuwa near the Nepal-China border.
Among the foreign nationals reported missing, Indian citizens account for the largest number at 133, followed by 47 from the United States, 34 from Australia, 33 from the United Kingdom, 24 from Canada and 19 from Malaysia.

The list also includes nationals from Belarus, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Lithuania, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Ukraine, Japan and the Philippines.
According to the NTB data, none of the 403 missing individuals had been confirmed found as of Wednesday evening.
The gender breakdown shows that 203 of the missing persons are male and 200 are female.
The NTB said the figure includes 62 Nepali citizens and 341 foreign nationals. Rescue teams, security personnel and local authorities have been continuing search and rescue operations in the flood-hit areas.
Separately, Malbury Hotel informed the NTB at 5:00 pm on Wednesday that 65 additional people—52 foreigners and 13 Nepalis—had been reported missing, with further details yet to be received.
Authorities are continuing to verify the identities and whereabouts of the missing individuals as rescue efforts intensify in the disaster-affected region.
The flash flood, believed to have originated upstream in Tibet, caused extensive damage to infrastructure, settlements and transport links in Rasuwa, leaving dozens missing and disrupting cross-border movement.
