KATHMANDU, August 22: Incessant rain in Sindhupalchowk district has put 34 homes in Melamchi Municipality-8 at the risk of landslides. The ongoing risk of landslides has put human settlements in the region at risk.
According to locals, the local authorities have not paid any attention despite their complaints. Ward-Chairperson Thakraj Giri of Ward-8 addressed the need to relocate the local residents to temporary shelters for now.

Earlier, the Disaster Management Committee of the district was informed about the situation and was requested to monitor the situation with the help of an expert, but no action was taken, Giri said.
Furthermore, Giri said he had informed the municipality about the situation and directed the people concerned to manage temporary shelters for the affected families. He said that a team of geologists should be brought in to study the situation of the settlement.
