18 deaths recorded in Kathmandu district alone


KATHMANDU, May 12: As many as 34 people died of COVID-19 in Bagmati Province in the past 24 hours.

Of them, 18 were recorded in Kathmandu, four in Lalitpur, three in Bhaktapur, two each in Chitwan, Dolakha and Sindhuli and one each in Ramechhap, Sindhupalchowk districts, according to the Ministry of Social Development of the Province.


With this, the COVID-19 death toll of Bagmati Province has spiked to 1,653.


Likewise, as many as 4,655 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the province in the past 24 hours. Of them, 2,788 were detected in Kathmandu, 602 in Lalitpur, 537 in Bhaktapur, one in Rasuwa, 73 in Nuwakot, 115 in Dhading, 124 in Chitwan, 47 in Sindhuli, 116 in Makwanpur, 24 in Ramechhap, 15 in Dolakha, 155 in Kavrepalanchowk and 58 in Sindhupalchowk districts.


There are currently 53,375 active cases of COVID-19 in Bagmati Province. Likewise, 137 COVID-19 patients are in HDUs, 698 in ICUs and 220 on ventilators.
