KATHMANDU, Aug 6: The World Hindu Federation has urged the Supreme Court to review its August 4 decision prohibiting the practice of offering animal sacrifices at the Gadhimai Temple.
The federation today issued a press statement and urged the SC to review its decision, adding that the Court could not interfere on the religious practices and time-honoured tradition. The federation chair Dr Ram Chandra Adhikari urged the SC to review the decision and nullify it as the animal sacrificing tradition was connected with the glorious culture of the Hindu religion in the country.
The federation further mentions the animal sacrifice has been practiced in the country since long as different shrines (Shaktipeeth), Gorakhkali, Manakamana, Dakshinkali among thousands of such shrines therefore it could not be stopped.
The decision has come as the practice of mass sacrifice of animals at the Gadhimai Temple of Bara has become the matter of serious discussion whether it was appropriate or not for long. RSS
