Survey official returns bribe taken from service seeker

UDAYAPUR, Jan 3: A staffer of survey office based in Katari Municipality has returned bribe taken from a service seeker.

A survey team led by Sukdev Chaudhary deployed from Gaighat survey office returned Rs 6, 000 following warning by Mayor of Katari Municipality Gyanendra Shrestha.

Following complaints by the service seeker, Shrestha had summoned Chaudhary and directed him to return the money, said Abhimanyu Lamichhane, a local.

The survey office had charged Rs 150 in revenue instead of a 10-rupee ticket for re-registration of the land, Lamichhane quoting the mayor.

“We reported to the mayor after the survey staffers charged Rs 150 in revenue instead of a 10-rupee ticket that had to be pasted on the application form for registering land,” said Lamichhane.
