Departmental sides into volleyball semis

POKHARA, Dec 29: The semifinal line-ups of the ongoing 21st Women’s and 31st Men’s National Volleyball Tournament under the National Sports Council (NSC) Championship has been completed on Thursday. 

All the departmental sides including Nepal Police Club (NPC), Armed Police Force (APF), and Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) secured their berths in the last four of men’s category. Likewise, home team Western Region was the only non-departmental team to reach men’s semifinal in the tournament being held at Pokhara Stadium, Pokhara.

Similarly, the women’s category was also dominated by the departmental sides with NPC and APF cementing their places in the last four of the event. Western Region and Central Region were the other two teams to reach semifinals.  

To make the places in the men’s summit clash, NPC and TAC will battle in the first semifinal while the second semifinal will see APF and Western Region battling. 

In the women’s semifinal draws, APF will take on Western Region while NPC will face Central Region. 

Meanwhile, four matches each were held in both men’s and women’s categories on the last round of the league.  

In the men’s category, Eastern Region defeated Mid-western 25-20, 25-20, 25-17 in the first match, while Far-western recorded 29-27, 25-18, 25-15 victory over Mid-western. 

Likewise, in the remaining encounters, APF overcame NPC 25-23, 22-25, 25-20 and TAC saw off Western Region 25-21, 29-27, 25-20. 

Similarly, in the women’s category, TAC defeated Eastern Region 25-12, 25-13, 25-10, while Mid-western beat Far-western 25-7, 25-12 and 25-17. 

In the third match of the day, APF overcame NPC 25-17, 25-20, 25-17, while Mid-western saw off Western 25-9, 25-14, 25-15 in the last match of the same category.
