In his meeting with Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala at his office in Shital Niwas on Wednesday, Dr Yadav talked about the growing frustration among the people caused by the stalled peace process and the fast approaching constitution-drafting deadline, and asked them how they plan to diffuse the political crisis.[break]
“There is only a month to go before the second extension of the CA comes to an end, but no solution to the political deadlock appears on the horizon. Now you tell me how the country would find an outlet to the crisis?” sources at the president´s office quoted Yadav as telling the leaders.
In reply, NC president Koirala stated that the responsibility is on Maoist Chairman Dahal´s shoulders. “Prachandaji [Dahal] should take the responsibility. There was Girija Prasad Koirala who fulfilled his responsibility. Now it is Prachandaji´s turn to take over,” a source quoted Koirala as saying.
Prime Minister Khanal stated that the completion of the peace process and constitution drafting depends on how seriously the Maoists take up the responsibility. “I agree with Sushilji that that the Maoists should act responsibly,” a source quoted Khanal as saying.
In response, Dahal reiterated his commitment to peace and constitution, and added that other political parties -- mainly the NC and the UML - should also act responsibly. “I agree with what you said. But I need your support to conclude the process,” a source quoted Dahal as saying.
