BIRGUNJ, Dec 27: The meeting between representatives of Nepal and India regarding the ongoing protest against pollution caused by transport of dusty cargo to Birgunj through Raxaul has ended inconclusively.

India's one-sided decision to unload such raw materials at Sirsiya Dry Port at Birgunj caused problems in the unloading of cargo at the dry port and the severity of the problem has escalated as no viable solution has been found.

While there had been negotiations between Indian Railways and its sister organization, Indian Container Corporation, to unload the clinker at Sirsiya Dry Port, there has neither been agreements between the nations regarding the use of the port for the said purpose nor has any formal notice been given to the Nepal government.

While the Indian officials stress on using the port for unloading of dusty cargo, the port does not have the required infrastructure for this purpose, say Nepali entrepreneurs.
