KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Germany has agreed to provide Nepal with an additional development grant of 15 million euros to build Damauli-Lekhnath Electricity Transmission Line. Issuing a statement on Monday, the German embassy in Kathmandu said that the grant is an additional support to the 43-kilometer Damauli-Lekhnath 220 KV double-circuit transmission line.
Earlier in November last year, the German government had committed 16 million euros for a transmission line project under its financial cooperation program 'Promotion of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in Nepal'. According to the statement, the total commitment to support construction of the transmission line stands at 31 million euros.
“This transmission line is a priority component for strengthening Nepal's national grid. This will efficiently transfer to the Nepali households a significant generation of hydro energy produced from Seti-Madi river basin,” read the statement. According to the embassy, the financial arrangement of this cooperation will be made through German Development Bank-KfW.
