DHADING, July 15: As many as 31 people were injured when a bus collided with a truck at Khatauti along the Prithvi Highway.
The bus (Na 5 Kha 502) headed for Kathmandu from Mahottari collided with the truck (Na 5 Kha124) coming from the opposite direction at Benighat, near the Khatauti Bridge in Rorang Rural Municipality.
As told by Barun Bahadur Singh, Inspector at the Area Police Office, the accident took place at around 6 pm on Saturday. Michael Rai, the bus driver, Bishwo Kumar Chaudhary, the conductor, and Aadesh Chaudhary, a passenger who sustained serious injuries have been brought to Kathmandu while others are undergoing treatment at the Malekhu Community Hospital.

Vehicular movement on the highway was obstructed for three hours after the accident. According to Inspector Singh, resuming the traffic took time as it was quite challenging to move the large and heavy truck from the road. Both drivers are injured and the reason behind the accident is still uncertain.
