EU Election Observation Mission launched

The European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) for the elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly has officially started its works on Tuesday. The EU EOM is is manifested to observe all aspects of the electoral process and to assess the extent to which the elections are in compliance with the laws of Nepal, as well as with international and regional commitments for democratic elections to which Nepal is a signatory.

Two girls rescued from trafficker

Police arrested Krishna Prasad Regmi of Rajapur-1, Bardiya and rescued two girls from being trafficked. The girls, residents of Dailekh, were being trafficked to Kuwait via India, were rescued from Indo-Nepal check point today.  A case on human trafficking has been filed against Regmi, Subash Gaire, police inspector at the Area Police Office, Krishnanagar said.

Left Alliance and RPP publicize separate election manifestos  

CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist jointly launched their common manifesto for upcoming elections. The Left Alliance expresses commitment to nation by strengthening nationality, democracy, unity, peace, stability and development with promises to alleviate poverty and unemployment

Likewise, in its manifesto, RPP aims to adopt the 'Mahendra nationalism' of BP Koirala's national reconciliation policy, restore Hindu State with constitutional monarch and democracy. RPP’s manifesto also promises to produce 10,000 MW electricity in 10 years, accelerate economic growth, improve access to health facilities and expand road networks across the country. 

New revolution possible: Baidya

CPN (Revolutionary Maoist) chair Mohan Baidya has insisted on the need of a new revolution under the leadership of working class people, stating that such revolution is possible as well. Issuing a press statement on the occasion of the centenary of the 1917 October Revolution today, leader Baidya has urged labors to seriously move on towards the path for a new revolution for their rights. 

Nepal off to Malaysia to participate in Youth Asia Cup

Nepal U-19 Cricket Team is set to travel Malaysia tonight at 1130 PM Nepali Standard Time to participate in the ACC U19 Youth Asia Cup 2017 to be held at Kuala Lumpur from 8th - 20th November 2017. The ACC Under-19 Asia Cup is a cricket tournament organized by the Asian Cricket Council, designed as an effort to grow cricket within the emerging nations using tournaments with test nations as a platform for improvement. Mr. Sultan Rana, the ACC Events & Development Manager concurs that ACC holds the opportunity for emerging cricket nations to “practice, prepare and improve their skills” to go against professional cricket nations.

At least 5 killed in Kabul’s media station attack

At least five media person and another 20 staffers and journalists are assumed to be wounded in Kabul’s media station’s attack. Armed gunmen broke into the Kabul offices of 24-hour satellite TV station Shamshad after setting off explosions. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack via its Amaq news agency.
