30 players named for closed camp

KATHMANDU, Nov 25: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has chosen the preliminary squad of 30 players for the closed camp in order to prepare for the upcoming 4th SAFF Women’s Championship. 

The squad of 30 players was selected from 42-player shortlist which was cut down from the initial 72 names three days ago. The squad will join for closed camp starting from Saturday to start preparation for the championship to be held in Siliguri, India through December 26 to January 4.

The preliminary squad comprises of 4 goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 9 midfielders and 7 forwards. 

Nepal, which is pitted in Group A, will kick off the championship against Bhutan on December 26. Similarly, it will face the Maldives and Sri Lanka in other group matches on December 28 and 30 respectively.  

Similarly, Group B comprises of defending champion India, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.  

The top two finishers of either groups will make it to the semifinals. The semifinals will be played on January 2 while the final will be held on January 4. All matches of the championship will be played in the Kanchenjunga Stadium of Siliguri, India.

Squad 

Goalkeepers:  Namita Kumari Dali, Anjila Thumba Subba, Rupa Rana Magar and Anjana Rana Magar. 

Defenders: Gita Rana, Punam Jargha Magar, Ghim Kumari Gurung, Amrita Jaishi, Hira Kumari Bhujel, Anchali Waiwa, Manmaya Limbu, Kabita Dhimal, Bimala BK and Nanda Kumari Thapa. 

Midfielders: Sapana Lama, Dipa Adhikari, Anita Basnet, Renuka Nagarkote, Manjali Kumari Yonjan, Laxmi Kumari Paudel, Indira Rai, Anita KC, Dipa Rai 

Forwards: Sarita Bhandari, Krishna Khatri, Sharmila Thapa, Manju Gurung, Nirmala BK, Niru Thapa, Saru Limbu.
