3 killed in Ramechhap bus accident

RAMECHHAP, Sept 23: Three persons were killed and 18 others injured when a passenger bus met with an accident in Sanabari of Ramechhap district on Friday.

The ill-fated bus (Ba 2Kha 6374), which was heading toward the district headquarters Manthali from Rampur, plunged some 40 meters below the road. According to police, two people died on the spot while another one died in course of treatment.  Preliminary investigation has pointed outbreak failure as the reason behind the accident but the police have not yet confirmed it.

As per the details provided by the District Police Office, Ramechhap, the deceased have been identified as Uma Khadka of ward no 6, Dipak Shrestha of ward no 7 and Balkumari Basnet of ward no 7 of Ramechhap Municipality.
 
Those who have sustained injuries in the accident were taken to Tamakoshi Co-operative Hospital, Manthali. Keshab Singh Dhami, a doctor involved in the treatment of the injured passengers, told Republica that all the patients are out of danger. Later, few of them were taken to Kathmandu by their family members for further treatment.

Security personnel and locals were deployed in the rescue work. The driver of the bus has been taken into custody for further investigation.
