3 killed, 39 injured in Udayapur bus accident

KATHMANDU, DEC 9: Three people were killed and 39 others were injured in a bus accident in Udayapur Friday morning. Among the injured, 10 are reported to be in critical condition.

According to Chief District Officer, Krishna Chandra Ghimire, that accident took place at Lekhani-5, Bhadaure, Udayapur. “Two passengers died on the spot while a child lost his life while being taken to the hospital,”Ghimire told Republica Online over the phone, “All the injured have been rescued and taken to a hospital in Katari.”

The dead include Kusum Devi Ram, 33, Saraswati Devi ram,60, and 10 year old Dipesh Ram.

CDO Ghimire said that 10 persons including the driver Lalan Paswan are critically injured.

The bus carrying 42 passengers, mostly pilgrims from ward number 6 and 7 of Madhukatta, Saptari, who were going to visit the Halesi Mahadev Temple, veered off and fell some 50 meters down the road, according to the police.

The registration number of the ill-fated bus is Na 4 Kha 3620.
