Police nab murderers

KATHMANDU, May 11: Police have Tuesday arrested three persons of a five-man gang that had shot dead an employee at a battery showroom in Teku and an Indian businessman of Ganabahal.



Raju Dangol, 34, of Kathmandu, Ashok Gole, 30, of Bhedpu-4, Dolakha and Bijayanta Sharma, 28, of Changunarayan, Bhaktapur were arrested while Sunil Maharjan, 28, of Kathmandu and Niraj KC, 26, of Kathmandu are still at large. [break]



Prem Krishna Maharjan, 25, and his colleague Sudip Basyal, 25, were shot at the Exide Battery Showroom, Teku on March 24. Maharjan died at Bir Hospital while Basyal survived. Similarly, Indian businessman Anjani Kumar Chachan was shot dead on April 10.



Police said Maharjan was killed for personal animosity with Raju Dangol while Chachan was murdered with an intention of robbery.



"We concluded that the same group was involved in both cases as the weapons used were similar in nature. The eyewitnesses of the incidents too identified the arrested trio and pictures of the absconding duo," Assistant Inspector General of Police Arjun Jung Shahi said.



The trio was nabbed by a joint team of the Metropolitan Police Range and Metropolitan Crime Division.
