Sixth APCYS 2017 to kick off from 1st Nov. 2017

KATHMANDU, Oct 28: The sixth Asia Pacific Conference of Young Scientists (APCYS 2017) is being held from November 1 in Kathmandu. 

The five-day conference is being jointly organized by Research Center for Applied Science and Technology (RECAST), Tribhuvan University, Nepal Polymer Institute (NPI), the National Adhering Organization (NAO) of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), and Brianycube Research Organization are organizing this esteemed international symposium in cooperation with Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), National Youth Council (NYC), Pokhara University, Kathmandu University, Kathmandu Center for Genomics and Research Laboratory, and University Grants Commission (UGC).

According to RECAST chairperson Rameshwar Adhikari, the mission of APCYS is to promote the atmosphere of scientific research and innovation among students in secondary schools (junior and senior high schools) in the Asia Pacific region through research competitions.

The previous APCYSs were organized in Indonesia, Taiwan, Malaysia and India. 

He further said that APCYS 2017 is going to be hosted by Nepal with the slogan ‘Our young scientists: Our strength, our hope’.

The event aims at providing a platform to students, and young researchers of various dynamics of research fields including chemistry, material sciences, physics, mathematics, engineering, and related biomedical sciences. 

The conference will be attended by 11 countries of Asia Pacific region. 

At least 17 scientific projects representing different high schools across the country will compete for various medals in the event. During the presentation, each project will be judged by the team of the international jury and the cream awardees will be selected for medals.
