KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is all set to join Deuba-led government. An emergency central committee meeting of the party held this morning decided to send RPP Chairman Kamal Thapa as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs in the government.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is also the President of the ruling Nepali Congress, wants to dismiss the minister from CPN (Maoist Center) after the party formed an electoral alliance with the main opposition CPN-UML.
Maoist leaders are heading key ministries including the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Prime Minister Deuba believes conducting the polls could be difficult when the crucial ministries are led by the party which has forged an anti-government electoral alliance. Soon after the meeting RPP Chairman Kamal Thapa has reached Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar.
Informed sources said that the Prime Minister is likely to sack all the ministers from the Maoist party before inducting RPP leaders in his cabinet.
