“The party had intra-party ideological disputes in the past as now, and such disputes would continue in the future. There are correct and incorrect political lines, and the party cadres should opt for the correct and scientific ones,” said Bhattarai while addressing a function at Public Youth Campus in Kathmandu. Dr Bhattarai said the youths should be able to recognize the correct ideological line and follow it.
The Maoist vice-chairman put forward such views at a time when the ideological battle and factionalism has plagued the party. He has demanded that he be allowed to put forward his dissent in public.
Another Vice-chairman Narayankaji Shrestha, who was also present at the function, said his party would launch a revolt if the constitution-drafting and peace process fall prey to conspiracy. He also warned that his party would resist if there are attempts of a ´coup´ from the president.
He also argued that he has a close friendship with Bhattarai and nothing could strain their relationship.
