Syakar Company is planning to introduce a new car - Honda Brio - to attract the attention of customers in the highly concentrated automobile market.[break]
“Honda Brio with 1.2 liters petrol engine will cost about Rs 2.3 million if the tax structure remains the same in the new budget,” said Ananda Raj Gurung, marketing manager of Honda Division at Syakar Company.
The hatchback, which will be available in only one variant, will hit the roads before Dashain festival.
Syakar Company is currently selling five Honda models -- Jazz, City, Civic, CR-V and Accord. Honda Brio will be coming to Nepal from India along with Jazz, City and Accord. Civic and CR-V, however, are coming directly from Japan.

The company is also expanding its dealership network throughout the country. “We have appointed eight dealers, including a new dealer in Kathmandu, in different parts of the country,” Gurung elaborated Syakar´s expansion plan.
Joshi Autoland - Honda´s new dealer in Kathmandu - will start sales from its showroom in Panipokhari within five months. Other dealers are based in Jhapa, Biratnagar, Hetauda, Pokhara, Butwal and Nepalgunj. All of them will start selling Honda vehicles before the Dashain festival.
“We are planning to complete construction of showrooms within August and bring them into operation from September,” added Gurung.
Al these local dealers will also provide spare parts and after sales services.
“We have been highly affected by the rise in excise duty because all of our vehicles are priced more than Rs 3 million. A rise of 10 percent means our vehicles are dearer by at least Rs 300,000,” said Gurung.
“Hopefully, Brio will help us maintain and increase out sales volume.”
