Of the total infected patients, 378 are India returnees
KAPILVASTU, June 3: Kapilvastu district, which has turned into a hotspot for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) disease, reported 28 new cases earlier on Tuesday night. With this, the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the district has reached 393.
According to the District Health Office, Kapilvastu, all those tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday hail from Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality in the district. They are aged between 14 to 28 years.

It has been learnt that they had returned home from India some three weeks ago and have been staying in a quarantine facility.
Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, 48 other cases were also confirmed in the district.
All ten local units in the district have witnessed COVID-19 cases. These include 100 cases in Yashodhara, 50 in Maharajgunj, 54 cases in Mayadevi, 48 cases in Shivraj, 35 cases in Krishnanagar, 29 cases in Shuddhodhan, 29 cases in Kapilvastu, 18 cases in Buddhabhumi, 16 cases in Vijayanagar and 14 cases in Banganga Rural Municipality.
Four security personnel, four other media persons, two health personnel, two government employees and a ward chairperson were also diagnosed with this fatal viral infection.
Of the 393 total patients in the district, 378 persons have been reported to have returned from India recently, according to Yogendra Bhagat, who heads the District Health Office in Kapilvastu district.
“If infection keeps rising at the current rate, nearly 1,000 persons are likely to be diagnosed,” said Chief District Officer Dirgha Narayan Poudel. He said that all the local units have been asked to make necessary preparations to tackle the growing number of COVID-19 cases.
Of the total infected patients in the district, 23 have recovered so far. The district has not reported any death so far.
