RAUTAHAT, Sept 21: The results of the third round of local elections have created a lot of buzz in Garuda Municipality-3 of Rautahat where Nepali Congress (NC) candidate made it to the post of chief just by one vote.

NC's Krishna Kumar Sahani has emerged victorious over CPN (Maoist-Center) candidate Shaildevi Sahani with a narrow margin of one vote. As informed by Chief Election Officer (CEO) of the district Nabin Kumar Joshi, Krishna Kumar garnered 308 votes while his closest rival Shaildevi collected 307 votes. NC was just about to celebrate its victory after the announcement of the result when the leaders of CPN (Maoist-Center) submitted an application to the District Election Office (DEO) demanding for recounting of votes.

According to CEO Joshi, the party submitting the application is claiming that there has been a mistake in vote counting and their candidate is the actual winner.

Vote counting has been completed in ward no 1, 2 and 3 of Garuda Municipality. Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) has registered victory in ward no 1 while NC has bagged victory in ward no 2.
