KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Controversial Managing Director of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), state oil monopoly, Gopal Khadka has been dismissed.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held in Singha Durbar on Monday relieved Khadka of his responsibilities concluding that he committed financial embezzlement while procuring land plots to build oil storage facilities for NOC in various parts of the country, said Minister for Information and Communications Mohan Basnet.
A proposal to sack Khadka was tabled in the cabinet meeting today.
The government was preparing to take action against Khadka after a series of news reports on the NOC land purchase scam were published by Republica and Nagarik dailies over the past two months.
